How do I make an overpayment to my mortgage?

You can make an overpayment of less than three times your usual monthly payment without a fee.

If you’d like to make a larger overpayment, you’ll need to check your mortgage offer document to see if there’ll be a fee. You can find this in your Barclays app or Online Banking under ‘Statements and documents’.

If you can’t see your letter in the app or in Online Banking, give us a call on 0333 202 7580. We’re here Monday to Friday from 7am to 8pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 7am to 5pm*. Just to let you know, we’re helping a lot of customers at the moment so you might have to wait longer than usual.

Pay in your app

You can use your app to make an overpayment from a Barclays current account. From your home page, select your mortgage, then ‘Transfer an overpayment’.

Pay in Online Banking

Log on, select your mortgage account from the home page, then ‘Mortgage management’ and choose ‘Single overpayment’ from the drop-down menu. Select the account you’d like the payment to come from.

You can set up a regular overpayment here, too – just choose ‘Regular overpayment’ instead. Enter the amount and how long you want to pay it for. If you don’t normally pay your mortgage by Direct Debit you’ll need to set one up first – you can do this on the same page.

Pay with any debit card

You can pay by debit card in your app or Online Banking.

In your app select your mortgage from the list of accounts on your home page, then ‘Make a debit card payment’.

In Online Banking, select your mortgage on the home page, then ‘Mortgage management’ and choose ‘Make a debit card payment’ in the drop-down menu.

Have a look at our mortgage overpayments page for more information about how overpayments work.

Don’t have the Barclays app or Online Banking? It only takes a few minutes to register.
