Question 2 of 5 about

Making and receiving international payments

How do I send money abroad?

You can send money abroad through Online Banking using PINsentry, through Telephone Banking or in branch.

You can also send money overseas to friends and family in selected countries using Barclays Pingit on your mobile.

For more details about all the ways you can make international payments, go to our international payments page. Within your Online Banking portal, you'll also find our FX Calculator, which will help you work out the rates you can expect when sending money overseas.

In order to send money abroad you’ll need certain account details to make the payment:

  • The full name of the account holder and their bank’s address
  • The bank account number or International Bank Account Number (IBAN)
  • The SWIFT Bank Identifier Code (SWIFTBIC) – this helps us identify which bank to send the payment to

If you don't have this information you can still send money abroad by ordering an international draft in branch.
