My card has been captured by a cash machine. What should I do?

We destroy all cards that are captured by our cash machines, so you won't be able to get yours back if this happens.

To get a new card, you'll need to report yours as stolen – you can do this through our app1, online, by phone2 or in a branch.

  • The app

    You can order a new card using the Barclays app – just follow these steps

    • On your app's home page, select ‘Cards’
    • Select the card that has been captured by a cash machine
    • Select ‘Report damaged, lost or stolen’ to request a replacement
    • Select ‘stolen’, enter a few details, then follow the instructions

    You should receive your new card within five working days*

    *Debit cards will be delivered to the address we hold on record for your account within five working days. This is dependant on standard Royal Mail second-class delivery to the UK. This service does not include credit cards. If a new PIN has been requested, you will receive this separately.

  • Online Banking

    You can order a new card through Online Banking, if you’re registered.

    Just follow these steps

    • Log into Online banking
    • Tap on the ‘Manage accounts’ tab in the top menu
    • Select the ‘Report a damaged, lost or stolen card’ option in the ‘Card Services’ list and follow the instructions to request a replacement

    You should receive your new card within five working days*.

    * Debit cards will be delivered to the address we hold on record for your account within five working days. This is dependant on standard Royal Mail second-class delivery to UK customers. This service does not include credit cards. If a new PIN has been requested, you will receive this separately.

  • By phone

    We’re experiencing a high number of calls at the moment, which is having a big impact on waiting times.

    Calls may be recorded so that we can monitor the quality of our service and for security purposes.

    To report your Barclays debit card stolen and order a replacement, contact us on one of the numbers below. You should receive your new card within five working days**.

    To report your Barclaycard card lost, call 0800 151 0900 or 0333 200 9090 (+44 1604 230 230 if calling from abroad) to cancel your card and order a replacement.

  • Branch

    You can report your Barclays debit card stolen at any of our branches. You should receive your replacement card within five working days*. In an emergency, you can use our temporary debit card replacement service in over 150 branches**.

    ** Temporary debit card replacement terms and conditions: This service cannot be offered if your account has been open for less than 30 days. It’s available for replacement cards only – not for new customers or new accounts. We can only issue Temporary debit cards – not cash cards, credit cards or savings cards. Temporary cards issued in branch will have a new card number. If you have a personalised debit card, we’re not able to print your picture so you’ll receive a standard debit card. You must know your PIN as you’ll be asked to use this once the card has been issued, as a security measure. Additional identification or photo ID is required when using the Temporary replacement service.
