How do I get, or increase, an overdraft?

You may be able to arrange an overdraft or increase an existing one in Online Banking (if you’re registered), over the phone or in branch.

To do this online, log in and select the ‘Manage accounts’ menu. Next choose ‘Account’, then ‘Manage my overdraft’.

If you’re registered for Telephone Banking as a Personal customer, you can apply by calling 0345 734 5345*.

To arrange for or increase an overdraft in branch, you’ll need to bring your previous 2 months/8 weeks' payslips and a recent statement for the account your income is paid into, if it's not a Barclays account.

You’ll need to be aged 18 or over to apply for a personal overdraft, and hold an eligible Barclays account. Overdrafts aren’t available with a Cash Card Account or savings accounts, and are subject to status.
